I'm a Navy Wife

The history:

I'm a Navy wife. A proud one!!! My husband has been in the Navy since January of 1997. We met in 2000, and married in late 2001.He is a US Naval Aircrewman and works as a Rescue Swimmer, which means he flies in helicopters and is attached to squadrons, not ships. He has been on shore duty once, and on sea duty at 4 different commands. Our first two children were born on shore duty, our second two, on sea duty. We live across the country from our families-- his family is in Washington state, mine in California. That's far.

From A Wife's Perspective:

Military life can be rough. Deployments are hard. Having my husband miss important life events, milestones, celebrations-- oh boy. Knowing this is what he was meant to do and seeing how proud he is to do it- peaceful. This lifestyle can be tough, but because of it, I know this. Our marriage is solid and strong. We live in a state of honeymooning because I am always acutely aware of the fact that he might be gone in a few days. When we do argue, it's short-lived because everything seems so trivial when we know our time together is limited. I have made friendships that have made me a better person, a better mother, a better wife. The other Navy families are my family. They mean the world to me. Jeremiah and I have been together more than 12 years now, and I have learned so much about myself, my values, who my husband is, and the strength of his character. The lessons are painful while going through them, but I am better for having learned them. I am proud of what he does. Every single day. And the Navy has given me a new kind of family, one I honestly don't know what I'd do without.
